Japan-based CSSC-CL announces ISASecure® EDSA certifications for Hitachi and Yokogawa Industrial Control Devices

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (15 July 2014) –  The Control Systems Security Corporation Chartered Lab (CSSC-CL) announced today that it has certified control systems from Hitachi and Yokogawa to the ISASecure Embedded Device Security Assurance (EDSA) certification.

The Control System Security Center (CSSC, President: Seiichi Shin), established by a collaboration of industry, academia and government organizations in Japan, operates an independent organization called the CSSC certification laboratory (CSSC-CL), which has been accredited to Guide 65 by the Japan Accreditation Board (JAB) to provide ISASecure certifications. The laboratory held a certification adjudication committee on 14 July 2014 and judged that the Hitachi HISEC 04/R900E Controller and the Yokogawa CENTUM VP Controller met the required criteria to earn the ISASecure® EDSA industrial control systems (ICS) certification.

The two certified ICS products are now registered as certified devices with the ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI) and are published in the US on the ISCI certified devices web page (www.isasecure.org).

“These are the first two ISASecure certifications to be issued by the CSSC-CL since becoming an ISCI Chartered Lab in early 2014,” stated Andre Ristaino, ISCI Managing Director. “The launch of the CSSC-CL is an important milestone for the ISASecure certification scheme and the achievements by the CSSC team in less than two years are extraordinary.”

Two important missions of the CSSC and CSSC-CL are to strengthen the security of Japan’s domestic critical infrastructures and to boost the international competitiveness of Japan’s vendors who develop and export industrial control systems and devices. By offering the ISASecure cybersecurity certification locally, in the Tohoku Region of Japan, it is easier for Japanese vendors to achieve the globally recognized ISASecure cybersecurity certification for devices such as PLC and DCS.
